Music of the Night, 2010

Music of the Night was created in 1999 by students Blake Berris and Evan Hughes, as a way to showcase the musical theatre talents of our Performing Arts Department students.  It was also a way to demonstrate ownership of their theatre education here, as the production is entirely student produced: directors are selected each year by the directors of the previous year, the show is cast, directed, choreographed, de4signed and run entirely by students, under the supervision of Artistic Director Otto Layman.  The show has grown enormously over the years, and now has the same stature and attendance of our main stage shows, which is an enormous source of pride to the theatre staff.

This year also featured a fundraising gala at the home of Jeff and Nancy Barry prior to closing night, an event put together with the untiring efforts of the SBHS Theatre Foundation, with special thanks to Dani Hahn, Lana McIntyre, Jens Sorensen, Gail Fanaro, Joanie St. Denis, Kristi Lupoli and all the aprents who who worked s ohard to make the event tremendously successful.

This year's show and gala not only raised money for our Spring production of Singin' in the Rain, it also will allow us to upgrade the soundboard, mics and speakers in the theatre so that we will have professional quality sound for all of our productions.  Ken Lewis has graciously colunteered to spearhead this upgrade, and we encourage everyone to come out and hear the difference for yourselves May 7th through May 15th!
